It does not imply defeat but trust. The work presents an Indigenous girl suspended in a universe that is not landscape, but living memory. There is no ground, no horizon, no architecture to delimit the space. Instead, an exposition of form unfolds as if we were observing life from within in its most essential state. She is not above that world, but within it. In the midst of this expansion, the girl appears as an axis. Light but with a firm presence. She needs no external support; she belongs completely to her environment. The work does not speak of separation between figure and ground but of belonging. The girl does not float because she is lost but because she is supported by everything, a letting herself be held by that which is unseen, but which she remembers. Gravity doesn’t disappear; it changes form and becomes a bond. Suspension isn’t emptiness; it’s continuity. And in that stillness, identity isn’t lost; it expands!
